The FIAT 131 was produced in Italy from 1974 to 1984. It was available in different versions with petrol engines between 1300 cc and 2000 cc, as well as a diesel engine.
The crowning glory of this series was the FIAT 131 RALLY, the winning car of the rally world champions in 1978, 1979 and 1980. Exactly 400 homologation vehicles were built from this evolutionary stage of the FIAT 131.
FIAT's three-time World Rally Championship win was marketed accordingly: From 1978 to 1982, FIAT offered the FIAT 131 RACING to ambitious drivers, in Germany called FIAT 131 SPORT or in the "Walter Röhrl" version. The car was only available with two doors, had the 2000 ccm Lampredi engine, an ABARTH gearbox and a special rear axle ratio, with a lock on request. It was also available with larger inlet and outlet valves. Four color combinations were available. To my opinion, it must be the combination of orange and black. The number produced is unknown. FIAT statisticians speak of 3,000 - 4,000 cars built. Where have they all gone?
The history:
The car shown here was delivered as a new car to Pisa/I in 1979. It remained in first hand for more than 35 years until, after a second owner, also in Pisa/I, it came into a large German collection in 2017. A total mileage of currently 76,000 km can be proven. Part of our collection since 2022.
